While the rental market cautiously reopens across New York City, renters continue to pursue deals as the market has shifted in their favor during the pandemic. The pace of new development rentals coming to market has slowed in 2020, allowing existing properties to lease without major increases in competition. Long Island City’s relative affordability compared to Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn as well as its convenient waterfront and park access have helped maintain demand during a challenging time.
